Morocco opened the round with a 3-0 win over co-host Canada in Houston. France then beat Paraguay 1-0 in Philadelphia on a Kylian Mbappé penalty. Both winners now await the quarterfinals, which start on July 9 in Boston.

- Host nation exit: Canada made its first-ever Round of 16 appearance before losing to Morocco. It becomes the first co-host nation to exit the tournament.
